About the Role at Citi

Citi's Markets business is one of the largest and most established franchises of its kind globally, offering clients deep liquidity, broad product expertise, and integrated execution capabilities across fixed income, credit, securitization, currencies, and commodities. Within Markets, Spread Products sits at the intersection of credit markets, structured finance, and capital solutions — providing sophisticated financing and risk management solutions to a diverse client base of financial institutions, corporates, and asset originators across Europe and beyond. The business operates at the forefront of the European securitization and structured credit market, with a track record across both public and private transactions.

The Opportunity

This is a Director-level opportunity within Citi's Spread Products Structuring team in London, focused on asset-backed finance, securitization, and principal investment. The role offers the chance to lead end-to-end deal execution across a broad range of structured finance transactions — from senior secured asset-backed facilities through to complex securitizations and capital markets take-outs — working alongside experienced origination, trading, and syndicate teams. With significant deal flow across European markets and a growing pipeline of structured credit mandates, this is a role with genuine breadth and senior client exposure from day one.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Structure and execute asset-backed senior financing facilities, securitization transactions, and principal investment deals across European markets, with a focus on optimising capital structures, managing rating agency processes, and deploying derivatives-based hedging strategies.
  • Lead and manage deal teams across the full transaction lifecycle — from initial screening and due diligence through pricing, credit committee approval, legal documentation, and closing — including preparation of credit memos, stress analysis, and cash flow models.
  • Develop and maintain quantitative pricing and cash flow models for structured finance transactions, including waterfall analysis, hedging valuation, and bespoke execution tools for complex ABS and principal transactions.
  • Manage senior relationships with asset originators, issuers, investors, rating agencies, and third-party transaction parties including external legal counsel, driving origination and repeat business flow.
  • Conduct and oversee asset-level and vendor due diligence, including on-site reviews assessing underwriting, servicing, collections, and recoveries processes against industry best practice standards.
  • Collaborate with syndicate, sales, trading, credit risk, and legal teams internally to ensure seamless deal execution, appropriate risk sign-off, and effective capital markets distribution of structured finance transactions.

What We Need From You

  • Proven structured finance experience gained within the Spread Products, ABS/Securitization, or Structured Credit division of a leading investment bank or specialist structured finance house, with a demonstrable track record of leading transactions from origination to closing.
  • Deep technical expertise in securitization structuring across multiple European asset classes (e.g., RMBS, consumer ABS, CLOs, esoteric ABS, SRT/significant risk transfer), including strong cash flow modelling skills and direct experience managing rating agency processes.
  • Quantitative proficiency in building and maintaining pricing engines, waterfall models, and hedging frameworks; advanced Excel and VBA skills are essential, with Python or equivalent analytical tools considered advantageous.
  • Experience in legal and operational structuring, including review and negotiation of transaction documentation, liaising with lawyers, and managing operational workstreams through to closing.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop junior talent, acting as a deal team leader capable of coordinating across multiple workstreams simultaneously under deal pressure and tight timelines.
  • Strong academic background in a quantitative or financial discipline (e.g., Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering) from a leading institution; relevant professional qualifications or CFA designation advantageous but not essential.
