Title and Summary
Analyst, Finance Business PartnerOverview:Mastercard's Technology (TECH) Business Unit operates the company's integrated global payments processing network. TECH uses its expertise to make payments safe, simple, and smart. The TECH Finance team provides financial guidance, analysis, planning, and governance support that enables business leaders to make informed decisions while ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements.
As part of the Software Capitalization team, this role offers a unique opportunity to support Mastercard's internally developed software portfolio and contribute to the end-to-end software capitalization lifecycle. This includes supporting stakeholders across Technology, Finance, and Controllership by helping analyze technology initiatives, prepare capitalization support, and maintain compliance with Mastercard policy and applicable accounting guidance, including ASC 350-40.
This role is well suited for an early-career finance or accounting professional who is analytical, curious, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a unique area of technology finance. Success in this role requires the ability to work with data, learn new processes, identify issues, and help turn problems into opportunities for stronger reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.
Role:
• Support software capitalization reviews through data collection, analysis, documentation, and compliance testing activities
• Assist with software capitalization processes, including capitalization governance, SOW capitalization, forecast development, and related reporting activities
• Prepare financial reporting and analysis for management, including analysis of actual results, key drivers, risks, and opportunities
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close activities through data preparation, analysis, reporting, and variance review
• Partner with Technology, Product, Program Management, Finance, and Controllership teams to gather information, resolve questions, and support capitalization decisions
• Apply established policies, procedures, and guidance to support capitalization eligibility assessments, while escalating complex or judgmental items when appropriate
• Identify, analyze, and communicate trends, data issues, and process gaps affecting the business, including supporting ad hoc financial requests and helping develop potential solutions
• Support process improvement initiatives through automation, reporting enhancements, dashboards, and analytical tools
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand technical initiatives and support analysis of financial and accounting impacts
All About You
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field required
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Financial Operations, or a related field
• Excellent written, verbal, and reading comprehension skills in English
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute potential solutions
• Ability to work with financial, operational, or workforce data and translate findings into clear, actionable insights
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through when preparing analysis, reporting, and process documentation
• Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and eager to learn new technologies, systems, accounting concepts, and business processes
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment while demonstrating accountability, urgency, and a willingness to learn
• Effective communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to partner with both technical and business stakeholders
• Ability to apply established policies, procedures, and guidance while escalating complex issues when appropriate
• Comfortable operating in an environment where processes may be evolving, details may need to be clarified, and solutions may need to be developed through analysis and collaboration
• Process improvement mindset, with an interest in identifying opportunities to improve reporting, controls, automation, and operational efficiency
• Strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint required; experience with Hyperion, Power BI (DAX and Power Query), and Power Automate a plus
• Experience supporting software capitalization, technology finance, or technology accounting processes a plus.
• Ability to comply with Mastercard's hybrid in-office work policy
